Calista M. Maresch
May 21, 1914 – Nov. 14, 2010
Calista M. Maresch of Waukesha passed away
peacefully Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010, at Seasons Hospice at the age of 96. She
was born May 21, 1914, in Valley Junction, the daughter of Wilbur and
Sophia (Farr) Parker.
After graduating from high school, Calista attended and graduated from
Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Later, she learned to fly an
airplane and achieved her solo wings. On April 26, 1941, she married John
A. Maresch. Together, they operated the Towne Inn in Mauston, retiring in
1973 after 25 years. She lovingly cared for her father and sister in their
final years. Her greatest achievement was the selfless giving of her time
to all her family and others. She was a member of Grace Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Waukesha.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Patricia J. (Donald) McKee of
Sarasota, Fla., John M. Maresch of Waukesha, Eileen K. Vanden Boom-Mejchar
(Richard Mejchar) of Waukesha and Paul M. (Debbie) Maresch of Mauston; a
son-in-law, Dale Vanden Boom; and a daughter in-law, Sholly Cabanac of
Milwaukee. She was the dear grandmother of Wendy Bryan of Milwaukee, Amie
(James) Rivest of Sun Prairie, Mark (Sarah) Vanden Boom of Mukwonago,
Julie Maresch of Milwaukee, Mary (Matt) Nelson of Greenfield, Jacob
Maresch of Mauston and Jordan Maresch of Mauston. She was also the loving
great-grandmother of Sarah, Emily, Abby, Ryan, Kate, Lauryn, Caroline and
Elias. She is further survived by special loved ones, Richard (Helen Oelke)
Haase, Beverly Novak, Mary Cox and Irma Barreto, nieces, nephews, and
other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Maresch, on Dec. 14,
1981; and by her sisters, Edna Manley and Willa Walter.
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until the 3:30 p.m. funeral service
Thursday, Nov. 18, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave.,
Waukesha. The Rev. Arthur Koepsell will preside. A private family
entombment will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery.
