Warren D. Leadley

Aug. 9, 1922 – Nov. 20, 2010

Warren D. Leadley, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010. He was born in Waukesha on Aug. 9, 1922, to Delbert and Harriett (Prescott) Leadley.

He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1941. During high school, he enjoyed the arts, including drawing, painting, charcoal and cartooning. Warren served overseas with the 664th Topographical Company, 20th Corps of Engineers, attached to Patten’s Third Army.

Following his service, he began work in Milwaukee for the Soil Conservation Service. In 1964, he was transferred to the Forest Products Laboratory in Madison until his retirement in 1984, at which time he was honored for 40 years of dedicated service with the Department of Agriculture. His hobbies included rose gardening, small game hunting, wood carving and photography.

Warren is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce; two daughters, Beth (Greg) Reed of Simpsonville, S.C., and Jacque Leadley of Madison; five granddaughters; one grandson; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family extends many thanks to Dr. David Sorber and his staff, and all who have cared for Warren over the years.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at noon Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Prairie Home Cemetery Chapel, 605 S. Prairie Ave., Waukesha.
