Aug. 21, 1919 – Nov. 22, 2010

Evelyn C. Priefer, of Phelps, formerly of Waukesha, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Aspirus Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Home at the age of 91. She was born Aug. 21, 1919, in Menomonee Falls, the youngest of nine children of Henry and Rosa (nee Lied) Reimer.

On May 20, 1939, she married John E. Priefer, who preceded her in death in 1998. She was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha and was a foster mother for Lutheran Social Services. For many years, she was a bakery manager for Kohl’s Food Stores. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and listening to the Brewers.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, John H. (Shirley) Priefer of Conover and Ned D. (Gloria) Priefer of Eagle River. She was the dear grandmother of Nancy (Matt) Giovanelli of Wauwatosa, Susan (Daryl) Castona of Rhinelander, John D. (Wendy McCormack) Priefer of Eagle River, Curt (Julie) Priefer of Eagle River and Lori (Ryan) Frailing of Bradenton, Fla., and the beloved great-grandmother of Kendra Peelen of Oconomowoc, and Tim and Tom Priefer, both of Eagle River. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her siblings.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service Friday, Nov. 26, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Lawrence Gates will preside. Private family graveside services will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
