Eleanor
E. "Shortie" Fabisiak (nee Moore) of Waukesha died peacefully at
home with her family by her side Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at the age of 81.
Eleanor was born Oct. 10, 1929, in Keyser, the
daughter of Orvel Moore Sr. and Bertha E. (Hippler) Moore. Her family
moved to Waukesha in 1944, where she worked at the Moor Mud Baths. She
graduated in June 1947 from Waukesha High School and then married the love
of her life, Gregory Fabisiak, on Oct. 18, 1947.
Eleanor and Greg owned and operated Shorties
Superette, a grocery store in Genesee Depot. They were honored by Broadway
star patrons Alfred Lunt, Lynn Fontanne and Helen Hayes. Later, she worked
in the Waukesha County clerk’s office handling fishing and hunting
licenses. Eleanor was an energetic, life-loving woman. She loved meeting
up with her friends to chat, and in her downtime, she enjoyed working on
her crossword and other mind-boggling puzzles. She loved shopping,
especially for Christmas. She was an avid bowler, card player and bingo
player and enjoyed reading the newspaper. She couldn’t get enough of
watching football, basketball and baseball.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband and best
friend of 63 years, Greg M. Fabisiak; loving daughter, Mary Ann (David)
Idleman; loving granddaughters, Melissa (Nicholas) Henriksen and Miranda
Idleman; the apple of great-grandma’s eye, Braden Michael Henriksen;
sister, Angie (Herb) Katzner; sisters-in-law, Donna (Tom) Moore-Sambs,
