Keith M. Gerbing was born to eternal life, loved and surrounded by his family, Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at the age of 78.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Myron Gerbing; stepfather, Edward Mertz; and two grandchildren, Jacob Gerbing and Bailey Domagalski.

He was the cherished father of Michael (Cheryl), Daniel (Trudy), Robert (Melissa), Donald (Keri), Tammy Spaulding, Lynda Brand, David (Beth) and Cindy (Mike) Domagalski; loving brother of Patricia Rasmussen, Gordan (Marilyn), Richard and Donna (Roy) Marquard; loving grandpa to Taylor, Shawn (Heather), Chad (Angela), Desiree (Jonathan) Peterson, Jessica, Jared, Kyle Brand, Alex and Emily, Jacob and Courtney Domagalski and five great-grandchildren. He will missed by several nieces, nephews and friends, especially his longtime friend, Bob Kasper.

Keith was born in Fond du Lac. He attended Rufus King High School in Milwaukee. He was a veteran of the Air Force from 1950 to 1954, where he served in France as a medic. After serving his country, he worked for several carpet laying companies, including Klode’s Furniture, before going into business for himself as Keith’s Carpet Laying Service. He then retired in the late 1990s. He moved from Brookfield to enjoy retirement in Wisconsin Dells then returned to the Waukesha area in the last years of his life to be closer to his family.

Keith loved to watch sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. You could always rely on him for the latest updates regarding the games. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, field trails, fishing, traveling, golf, playing sheepshead and going to the movies. The real joy during his life was time spent with family. Later in his life, he was baptized in the Holy Ghost, enjoyed learning the gospel and attending church.

Our family would like to express a special thank you to Waukesha Memorial Hospital and to all of the staff who aided in his care.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. until the 6 p.m. memorial service Monday, Oct. 4, at Apostolic Life Church, W271-S2929 Merrill Hills Road, Waukesha, WI 53188 (542-7538).
