Sigurd
Cleland Lunde, 85, of Adams, formerly of Oconto and Oconomowoc, passed
away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at his sons home in Adams.
Sigurd was born Aug. 5, 1925, at the family farm in Rubicon, the son of
Sigurd G. and Ellen D. Lunde.
He graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1943 and enlisted with the
U.S. Air Force. While enlisted, he married Geraldine Diedrich. This
28-year marriage was blessed with three children, Diana, Sigurd and Susan.
Sigurd worked for his brother-in-law, Erwin Monis, as an apprentice
electrician and then went on to work for Burke Electric in Milwaukee. As a
master electrician, he owned and operated his own business, Lunde
Electric, for many years. Later in life, he worked with the IBEW as a
master electrician traveling around the country, and he met and married
Patricia Cox of Oconto. They had many happy years together until her death
in October 2003.
He enjoyed photography, fishing, hunting, bowling and even flew a plane
for the Ashippun Sportsman Club fox hunts. His favorite television shows
and books were classic Westerns.
Sigurd was a member of IBEW and was a 32nd Degree Shriner of the Scottish
Rite. As a veteran, he was a member of the American Legion in Oconto. He
grew up in Rubicon and was a member of St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church for
many years, where he enjoyed singing in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Lunde; parents, Sigurd G.
and Ellen Dorothea Lunde; grandson, Bob Maas; and two sisters, Dorothy
Bennett and Clarice Monis.
He is survived by two daughters, Diana (Mike Killian) Lunde of Superior
and Susan (Jr.) Grulke of Oconomowoc; a son, Sigurd D. (Jeannine) Lunde of
Adams; a sister, Esther Christenson of Rubicon; brother-in-law, Alvin
Bennett of Green Bay; four stepsons, Kipp (Donna) Cox of Cottage Grove,
David (Julie) Cox of Cadillac, Mich., Tim (Karen) Cox of Oconto and Todd
(Heidi) Cox of West Bend; a stepdaughter, Cindi (Bill) Geifer of
Richfield, Minn.; grandchildren, Chris (Craig Lumb) Maas, Lorri (Chuck)
Komisar, Nicole (Brent) Genz, Amanda (Steve) Clubb, Sigurd K. Lunde, Kara
Lunde, Emma Cox, Travis Cox, Ryan Cox, Nathan Cox and Jason Cox, Kristen
(David) Casper, Ashley Giefer and Matthew Giefer; and two
great-grandchildren, Emma and Cole Komisar. He is further survived by many
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service
Friday, Oct. 8, at St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church in Rubicon. The Rev. Matt
Lee will officiate. Interment will be at St. Olaf’s Cemetery in Rubicon.
A graveside service with full military honors will also be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 16, at Lakeside Cemetery in Crandon.
