Roger A. Couch Sr.
April 17, 1939 – Oct. 21, 2010
Roger
A. Couch Sr., 71, of Eagle, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, joining his
parents, Adeline and Clifford Couch.
He was the dear father of Jodi L. (Kevin Shaw) Couch of Seattle, Roger A.
(Sandra) Couch of Oak Creek and Jason Couch of Eagle; proud grandfather of
Elijah and Kaleb Shaw, both of Seattle, and Liesel, Dana, Logan and
Dietrich Couch, all of Oak Creek; and the loving brother of Marie Foote of
Waterford and Laurie (Roger) Helm of Waukesha. He is further survived by
nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends, and his beloved dog,
Reba.
Roger was born in Gas City, Ind., on April 17, 1939. After graduation from
Pius XI Catholic High School in Milwaukee, he joined the U.S. Navy,
serving from 1957 to 1961. Returning to the Milwaukee area, he worked at
Delco Electronics in Oak Creek for several years before starting his own
electrical contracting company, Arc Electric. He was owner or partner of
numerous businesses over the next 30 years, including owning and managing
a bar, constructing and managing buildings in a business park and renting
luxury recreational vehicles. As a master electrician, he continued
working up until his death as an electrical inspector. After moving to
Eagle in 1983, Roger became an active member of the community, involved in
Kettle Moraine Days, the Lions Club, and serving as a village of Eagle
trustee. In his younger days, he was a big race fan, sponsoring cars and
even racing himself. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and
snowmobiling. Later in life, he became an avid golfer. Roger also enjoyed
gambling, traveling, practical jokes and good times with friends and
family.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Thursday,
Oct. 28, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. A
celebration of Roger’s life will follow at the Waukesha Eagles Aerie
#453, 709 N. Grandview Blvd., from 6 p.m. to midnight.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to a favorite
charity.
