Edwin Custer Sr.

Edwin
Custer Sr. passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in the company
of his loving family. He was 86.
Ed was born to Vincent and Freda Custer on Dec. 17, 1923, in Chippewa
County. On Feb. 18, 1956, he wed "the love of his life," Dena
Engstrom, who preceded him in death May 10, 1991. He now joins her in
eternal peace. They raised their family in Waukesha.
Ed retired from Miller, Bradford and Risberg in 1986 and moved with Dena
to Grand Island, Fla. There, he served as a volunteer fireman/first
responder for his community. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ed always
loved a good game of cards, but hated losing. He will be fondly remembered
as a good friend, neighbor and devoted family man, always willing to lend
a hand. Ed was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church, and faithful in
his attendance.
Ed is survived by his son, Edwin Jr. (Carlene) of Foresthill, Calif.;
daughters, Marcy (John) of Anchorage, Alaska, Marie (Kurt) of Greenfield,
Paula Schrenk (Benny) of Foresthill, Carol Fabrick of Bunnell;
granddaughters, Catherine (Mike) and Dena (Chris) Schrenk and Verena and
Marlena Fabrick; great-granddaughters, Ashlan and Charlotte; his sisters,
Marie McElroy and Elizabeth Morning; sisterin-law, Muriel Custer; special
friend, Beverly Wegner; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Victor and
Harold; and his sister, Margaret Miller.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. memorial service
Saturday, Sept. 11, at Olson Funeral Home, 1516 Larson St., Bloomer, with
the Rev. Eldon Carlson officiating.
