Edwin Custer Sr.

Dec. 17, 1923 Aug. 21, 2010

Edwin Custer Sr. passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in the company of his loving family. He was 86.

Ed was born to Vincent and Freda Custer on Dec. 17, 1923, in Chippewa County. On Feb. 18, 1956, he wed "the love of his life," Dena Engstrom, who preceded him in death May 10, 1991. He now joins her in eternal peace. They raised their family in Waukesha.

Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ed always loved a good game of cards, but hated losing. He will be fondly remembered as a good friend, neighbor and devoted family man, always willing to lend a hand. Ed was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church, and faithful in his attendance.

Ed is survived by his son, Edwin Jr. (Carlene) of Foresthill, Calif.; daughters, Marcy (John) of Anchorage, Alaska, Marie (Kurt) of Greenfield, Paula Schrenk (Benny) of Foresthill, Carol Fabrick of Bunnell; granddaughters, Catherine (Mike) and Dena (Chris) Schrenk and Verena and Marlena Fabrick; great-granddaughters, Ashlan and Charlotte; his sisters, Marie McElroy and Elizabeth Morning; sisterin-law, Muriel Custer; special friend, Beverly Wegner; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest, Victor and Harold; and his sister, Margaret Miller.
