Lawrence ‘Larry’ Anton Kreidler

Lawrence “Larry” Anton Kreidler of Waukesha passed away in the afternoon hours of Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Angels-Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc surrounded by family. He was 88.

Larry was born in Plymouth on May 30, 1922, a son of the late Bernard and Emma (Tymnick) Kreidler. He served honorably in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II and was stationed aboard the USS Appleton. Following his honorable discharge, Larry was married to Evelyn (Powell) on Aug. 21, 1948. Together they raised five children. He was self-employed as a carpenter and tradesman and had also worked for Waukesha County in the maintenance department. A longtime and active communicant of St. William Catholic Church, Larry was also a charter member. He sang with the Resurrection Choir and also served as an usher. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling in earlier years. Larry’s greatest joy, however, was for his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife of more than 62 years, Evelyn; and his children, Jo Ann (Lawrence) Presta of Delafield, John (Amanda) Kreidler of East Troy, Janis Rodden of Eagle, James (Patricia) Kreidler of Waukesha and Jean (Donald) Wolf of Pewaukee. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Sam (Carol) Presta, Michael (Jamie Anni) Presta, Kim (Kevin) Weber, Kevin (Jessica) Kreidler, Andrew Kreidler, Amber Kreidler, Edward (Valerie) Rodden, Erin Rodden, Trish Rodden, Michael (Jenelle) Bacon, Janelle (Steve) Vogt, Elizabeth Wolf, Donna (Joe) Schneider and Charles Wolf; his great-grandchildren, Emily Presta, Holly Presta, Kaley Weber, Konnor Weber, Jennifer (Matt) Heiden, Alayna Haw, Michael James Bacon and two expected; his sisters, Emma Keske of Waukesha, Marion Smith of Phoenix, Bernadine Poppie of Hartford and Catherine (James) Gilane, also of Hartford. In addition, Larry leaves a sister-in-law, Marian Tuscany of Milwaukee; his special friends, Jerry and Arlene; as well as his beloved dog and companion, Chip.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; three infant children, Joseph, Janel and Joel; his brother, Fritz Kreidler; and his sister, Lorraine Martin. He was also preceded by his longtime friend and canine companion, Toby.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A second visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass on Tuesday, Sept. 7, at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The Rev. Jason Lavann will be officiating.

Interment with full military honors will immediately follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Waukesha.
