Gladys
V. Kuchenreuther of Waukesha died Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at the age of 89.
Gladys was born Nov. 8, 1920, a daughter of Charles and Frances Smith.
She was an active member of St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha, where
she served as an usher and was involved with the Christian Mothers. Gladys
volunteered at Waukesha County Health & Human Services and the Food
Pantry of Waukesha County for many years. She proudly donated more than
100 pints of blood to the Waukesha Blood Center. Her greatest joy was
spending time with her family.
Gladys will be dearly missed by her children, James M. (Margaret)
Kuchenreuther and Jill A. (Jeffrey) Honer; grandchildren, Margaret, James
(Cindy), Mike (Monique) and Steve (Dawn); great-grandchildren, Joseph,
Melayna, Mone, Mikie, Mailyn, Anthony, Josh, Myranda and David; sister,
Ginnie Hekkers; and sisters-in-law, Pat Smith and Geri Kuchenreuther. She
is further survived by other relatives and friends. The family would like
to extend a special thank you to Gladys’ dear niece, Joan Walther, and
her live-in caregiver of three years, Jean Sokolowski, for their special
love and care in mom’s final years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, with whom for 64 years
she had a lasting love affair; her parents; brothers, Charles Smith, Louis
Smith and Fred Smith; sisters, Margaret Jester and Frances Schilling; and
grandson, David Kuchenreuther.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass on
Tuesday, Sept. 14, at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd.,
Waukesha. The Rev. Curt Frederick will be officiating. Burial will
immediately follow the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gladys’ name are appreciated to St.
William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188; or to
the Food Pantry of Waukesha County, 1301 Sentry Drive, Waukesha, WI 53186.
