Marcella L. Hunkins

Marcella L. Hunkins of the town of Vernon passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Waukesha Springs Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 91.

Marcella was born in Menomonee Falls on March 1, 1919, the daughter of Peter and Ella (nee Wachter) Kohler.

She was a graduate of Menomonee Falls High School. On July 1, 1938, she married Robert Hunkins Jr. in Decorah, Iowa. Robert preceded her in death April 15, 1994.

Marcella was a homemaker. She loved playing cards with the senior citizens group at Vernon Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. She also loved gardening and cooking.

Survivors include her sons, Dale (Karen) of the town of Vernon and Richard (Sherry) of Bancroft; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Debra Gerick; a grandson, Dale Hunkins Jr.; a sister, Irene (Fred) Pichler; and a brother, Robert Kohler.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the First United Presbyterian Church of Vernon, S71-W23280 National Ave. (Highway ES), Big Bend. The Rev. Judy Landt will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church are appreciated.
