Jacoba
A. van der Sterren of Waukesha died peacefully with her loving family by
her side Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at age 98. Jacoba was born Jan. 14, 1912,
in Holland, a daughter of Cornelius and Johanna van Rooijen.
She married Antonius on Sept. 10, 1946, before immigrating to the United
States of America on May 18, 1955. Jacoba was a longtime member of St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church and an avid reader, she enjoyed sewing and
doing alterations for family and friends, and she loved cooking for her
family everyday, especially on holidays.
Jacoba will be dearly missed by her children, Harry (Marie) van der
Sterren of Williams Bay and Annelies (Fred) Gebert of Menomonee Falls;
sisters, Sjaan Bernards, Anna van Niftrink and Mien van Dyk;
grandchildren, Kirsten (Greg) Schwenn, Mike, Kees, Nilsa and Eric;
great-grandchildren, Madison, Michael, Morgan, Fauna, Jayson and Cory;
great-great-grandchildren, Audrey, Jayne, Rylee and Lillian; and other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Antonius; her son,
Kees van der Sterren; and her brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at
Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd.,
Waukesha. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass
Friday, Sept. 17, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave.,
Waukesha. The Rev. William Key will be officiating. Entombment will
immediately follow the Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
