Ruth M. Loving-Thuerman

May 16, 1931 – Sept. 20, 2010

Ruth M. Loving-Thuerman passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2010.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Zieske; mother, Lillian (Saltee) Zieske; a husband, Wesley Loving; brother, Charles Zieske; and sister, Mary Jean Wulf.

Ruth is survived by her husband, John Thuerman; sisters, Betty Zieske and Donna McConaghy; sons, James (Dawn) Loving and Charles (Annick) Loving; grandchildren, Gregory Loving, Leigh Loving and Thomas Loving; and stepgrandchildren, Rachel Rayeske, Michael Rayeske, Jonah Meleski, Collin Meleski, Zachary Thuerman, Alexander Thuerman and Benjamin Thuerman.

Ruth was born in Canby, Minn., and attended high school in Waukesha. She worked as an administrative assistant within a Milwaukee hospital, at a Waukesha accountant’s office and for many years as office manager and coowner of Loving Electric in New Berlin.

In her 50s, she undertook a late college career at the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha and upon graduation, first worked as a social worker and then as vice president for volunteer services at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital, Brookfield.

After retiring, she served as a volunteer at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital and enjoyed time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was active in her church, a voracious reader, and enjoyed golfing, boating and snow skiing.

She faced her illness with the same courage and grace that marked her entire life: she was grateful for many years of good health and always expressed gratitude for acts of kindness, large and small, shared by family, friends and health care workers.

Her children are especially grateful to her husband, John Thuerman, who made it possible for Ruth to live independently and with privacy as her illness progressed.

A celebration of life has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 16, at Our Lord’s United Methodist Church, 5000 S. Sunnyslope Road, New Berlin. A 10 a.m. gathering will be followed by an 11 a.m. service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the church.

Krause Funeral Home of New Berlin is serving the family. For more information, call 786-8009.
