Joanne Elizabeth Evans

Feb. 27, 1920 – April 4, 2011

Joanne Elizabeth Evans of Rothschild was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Milwaukee, to William and Elizabeth (Richards) Pritchard, and died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Marywood Center in Wausau. She grew up in Wauwatosa along with two older brothers, Howell and Richard.

Joanne met her future husband, Tom, while participating in a special program at the Welsh Presbyterian Church on Milwaukee’s East Side. They were married Sept. 7, 1946, at Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church, and were blessed with four children – David, Paul, Janet and Kathryn. When the children were older, Joanne worked for 20 years as a bookkeeper with Metro GMC.

After Tom’s death in November 1994, Joanne moved to Brookfield and then later to Luther Manor in Wauwatosa. She enjoyed doing volunteer work, which ranged from bagging groceries to playing the piano for sing-a-longs. Joanne treasured her friends at Luther Manor and the Northwest Baptist Church, which she joined soon after moving to Luther Manor. Three years ago, she moved to the Wausau area.

She is survived by two sons, David (Molly) Evans of Duluth, Minn., and Paul (Debbie) Evans of Lake Bluff, Ill.; two daughters, Janet (Robert) Miller of Mosinee and Kathryn (Ed) Hill of Franklin, N.C.; a brother, the Rev. Richard Pritchard of Madison; seven grandchildren, Clint, Nathan, Michelle, Chad, Megan, Rhys and Annie; and eight great-grandchildren, Kinsey, Carson, Thomas, Madison, Garrison, Kiersyn, Hudson and Ruth.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Howell Pritchard.
Her family will miss her greatly but rejoice that she is in her eternal home with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
