Violetta M. Haley, recently of Keystone, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was “promoted to glory” Wednesday, April 20, 2011, after a long series of chronic illness, surrounded by family members in the home of her son, Joe.

Vi, born in Morrison, Ill., was the second to the youngest of 13 children of Henry and Anna Mae Wiese. A long-time member of The Salvation Army, she retired after 59 years of service in the Army to corps in Clinton and Cedar Rapids, Milwaukee and Waukesha in 2007.
She is survived by her sister, Darlene Darlington of Amarillo, Texas; her children, Patty and Bob Meyers, Joe Haley, Bill and Penny Haley, Debra Doty, Robyn Haley, and Kevin Haley; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren and 15 step great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, April 23, at The Salvation Army in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Dr. Patty Meyers officiating. Interment was at Cedar Memorial.
