Harry J. Bowey Sr., 76, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Seasons Hospice in Waukesha.
Harry was born Dec. 3, 1934, to the late Fred and Delcene (Hill) Bowey.
He retired from Wisconsin Centrifugal and was a past member of the North Prairie Volunteer Fire Department. Harry was a member of the Eagle United Methodist Church and was a certified lay speaker. As a parent, Harry enjoyed working with youth and was active in Boy Scouts, and in his early years enjoyed playing Santa Claus, square dancing, fishing, hunting and camping.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, in 2007; brothers, Bill, Austin and Bob; and sisters, Betty Kienast, Shirley Loomis, Dorothy Chapman and Carol Erikson.
Harry is survived by his six devoted children, Harry (Mildred) Bowey of Princeton, Phillip (Carrie) Bowey of Princeton, Paul (Debra) Bowey of Waukesha, Rosalyn (Gary) Boldt of Sheboygan, Melissa (Gary) Cox of Elkhorn and Brenda (Erik) Scrabeck of East Troy; 13 adoring grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Luella Bowey and Jean Bowey; and special friends, Diane and Ellie Hall. Harry was loved and will be remembered by other relatives and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 4, and from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Aug. 5, at Eagle United Methodist Church, 305 E. Main St., Eagle, with the Rev. Lawrence Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
