GRAND ISLAND, Fla.

Patricia A. Dowling

Aug. 17, 1931 - Aug. 5, 2011

In loving memory of Patricia A. Dowling, one of three children born to the late John A. and Dorothy A. Furrer, who succumbed to natural causes at the age of 79 on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011.

Known fondly by her family and friends as "Patty," she was a lifelong resident of Waukesha until the fall of 2010 when she moved to central Florida to live near her oldest daughter, Susan. Patty was married to the late Frederick C. Dowling (Fritz) up until his death Sept. 3, 2010.

She was known lovingly by the many members of the Silhouettes Color Guard and Drill Team as "OL," whose lives she touched as the head chaperone and group’s business manager during the 1960s and 1970s, when the members marched during competitions throughout Wisconsin as well as the entire United States.

Patty’s other interests and passions included travel, bowling and card playing. She was an inductee to the American Bowling Association Hall of Fame and enjoyed instructing youth in the sport of bowling at Sunset Bowl in Waukesha. She was an avid card player, who especially enjoyed playing Texas Hold’em in organized matches and tournaments. Patty also enjoyed crafting, and always loved planning parties and events for her friends and family. She especially enjoyed making themed party hats for everyone to wear to the events that she planned.

Patty is survived by her son, Fred Dowling of Oconomowoc; daughters, Susan Krug and Paula Turk, who reside in Florida, and Terri Schoenecker, also of Oconomowoc; as well as three grandchildren, Jason and Joel Krug and Lindsay Turk. Patty is also survived by a beloved great-granddaughter, Stella Rose Krug. Patty’s siblings, Jack Furrer of Dousman and Phyllis Rosenfelder of Sacramento, Calif., further survive her.

Cards and condolences can be sent to the family in care of Susan Krug, 610 E. 8th Ave., Mount Dora, FL 32757.
