Richard J. Rindt, 78, of Palmyra, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, peacefully at home.
Richard was born June 22, 1933, the son of the late Walter and Hilda Rindt. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Palmyra, the American Legion Thomas Holcomb Post 304, 32nd Red Arrow Division and the 40 et 8. He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting and driving the school van.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia of Palmyra. He was the cherished father of Dawn (Steve) White, Kelly (Steve) Kuhl, Shawn (Lyra) Rindt and Deanna (Kevin) Kulow; beloved grandfather of Jeffery (Lindsay), Catherine and Jonathan White, Joshua and Madalyn Wohlleben, Natasha Parham, Jessie Schineman, Allison and Alan Truman and Elliott Kulow; and brother of Ruth Kahn, Myrtle Halverson, Walter (Marion) Rindt and Jean Wallschlaeger. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Jeanne Hesse and Madalyn (Robert) Leissring, and a brother-in-law, John Klima.
Richard was loved by all and will be remembered by other relatives and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Rindt.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 313 W. Main St., Palmyra. Visitation continues from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Dec. 10, at the church, with the Rev. Steven Blyth officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
