John C. Schamerhorn

John C. Schamerhorn, 68, of Jefferson, passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Eagle View Manor in Jefferson.

John was born June 15, 1943, in Milwaukee, the son of Charles and Pauline (Zaher) Schamerhorn.

John proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command from 1962 to 1966. He married Theo Wehmeyer on April 25, 1964, in Lincoln, Neb., and later married Darlene Laurion on Oct. 15, 1982, in West Bend. John worked as an expeditor for Falk-Sundstrand Corp. in Milwaukee for 39 years, retiring on May 19, 2004.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Schamerhorn of Watertown; five children, Sheri (Tad) Jones of Alexandria, Va., Kimberly Schamerhorn of Tempe, Ariz., Amy (Andy) Schafer of Lincoln, Kristin (Greg) Haussler of Lincoln and Marcy (Mike) Klug of Watertown; eight grandchildren, John, Jessica, Jacob and Grace Schafer, Makayla and Grant Haussler and Kali and Austin Klug; brother, Cliff (Judy) Schamerhorn; and two sisters, Judy (Myron) Torzala of Kimberly and Kathy Witt of Pewaukee. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Emmett; and brother-in-law, Chuck Witt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Eagle View Manor or the Children’s Tumor Foundation are appreciated.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday, Dec. 16, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Nashotah with the Rev. Mike Strachota officiating. Burial with military rites will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
