Richard A. ‘Rick’ Stachowiak
Richard A. ‘Rick’ Stachowiak, 64, found peace Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, following an eight-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Nee Graser) for more than 44 years; loving father of Kim (Matt) Roncone, Shawn, Jon (Lisa) and Amanda Stachowiak; and the best grandpa ever to Chris Stachowiak (fiancee Kate), Cody, Alyssa and Dylan Stachowiak and Jacob and Sam Roncone. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Darcy, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was also the devoted son of the late Alex M. Stachowiak and Agnes J. (nee Karlovich) Stachowiak-Prausa and dear brother to the late Alex T. Stachowiak.
A proud Army veteran, Rick served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. He was awarded numerous decorations and medals.
He was a retired employee of Milwaukee Carpenter’s District Council, Local No. 344 and was an employee of the Milwaukee Brewers for the last five years. A longtime member of the Boy Scouts of America, Richard also served as a Boy Scout leader. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 W. National Ave., New Berlin. A candle lighting service will be at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. Mass of Christian burial on Monday, Dec. 19, at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 16000 W. National Ave., New Berlin. Interment with full military honors will be in Prairie Home Cemetery.
