Janice E. Leair (nee Eales)

Jan. 27, 1937 – Jan. 30, 2011

Janice E. Leair (nee Eales), a lifelong Waukesha resident, was born to eternal life Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at the age 74.

She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1954. Janice met her husband while they both worked at General Casting. They married in July 1964. She is survived by her husband, Verel “Red” Leair. She was also employed at the Godfrey Co., from which she retired.
For years, her family was blessed to receive hand-knit gifts as she used her free time creating beautiful sweaters, hats and mittens, throws and scarves. In retirement, she found a new career in which to showcase her incredible creativity. Janice spent many weekends at local art and craft fairs selling her fabric originals that included angels, Santas, snowmen, scarecrows and bunnies.

She liked to spend time with friends playing cards and bingo and enjoyed trips to various casinos around the state to try her luck at the slot machines.

When recently asked what her favorite things were, she replied, “My kids.” Janice’s kids span three generations. She is survived by her children, Diane (Milt) Bartelme of Franklin, Michael (Roxann) Leair of Harshaw, Audrey Leair of Milwaukee, Vicki (Jeff) Koehn of Oconomowoc and Gale (Dennis Kaiser) Leair-Kaiser of Tucson, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Christopher McNabb, Amy (Chastity) Scott, Nicole (Louis) Dyer, Melissa Bartelme, Michelle (Christopher) Hicks, Nicholas Leair, Sarah (Michael) Homan, Michael Ray Leair, Timothy Leair, Teddiann Leair, Joshua Starszak, Jeramiah Starszak, Reed Kaiser; great-grandchildren, Corey McNabb, Logan McNabb, Caleb Hillhouse, Benjamin Hillhouse, Alexander Bartelme, Alexandrea Ollhoff, Nathan Hicks, Jacob Hicks, Clayton Homan and Joshua Homan.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Mildred Eales; brother, Jerry Eales and daughter Connie McNabb.

A private family gathering has been scheduled to celebrate her life.
