Doris A. Hackel (nee Chapman) was born to eternal life Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at the age of 72. Doris was born in Waukesha on April 25, 1938, the daughter of the late Archie and Helen (nee Dingman) Chapman. Doris grew up in Eagle and was a longtime resident of Eagle. She graduated from Mukwonago High School in 1956. Doris worked in the accounts payable department at Waukesha Engine for 11 years, from 1956 to 1967.

Doris is survived by her husband of 44 years, Donald Hackel; her son, David (Megan) Hackel; daughter, Dawn Hackel; and grandchildren, Jacob and Charlie Hackel. Doris is further survived by her brothers, Darrel (Joyce) Chapman of Little Prairie and Russell (Pat) Chapman of Eagle; a sisterin-law, Darlene Cunningham; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Doris will be held from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Feb. 3, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.

Doris was a longtime member of Salem United Methodist Church in Waukesha. She was a wonderful baker and homemaker. Doris enjoyed bowling, the arts and attended many Civic Theatre productions over the years.
