Flora Salvante Milroy (nee Crisostomo)
Flora
Salvante Milroy (nee Crisostomo) of Waukesha passed away peacefully
Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at the age of 96.
"Tia Flora," as she was affectionately known, immigrated from
the Philippines to the United States in 1968, where she worked as a
physical education teacher at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in
Chicago. On Jan. 29, 1977, she and attorney James ("Jim") Edward
Milroy were joined in holy matrimony, and they lived happily in Milwaukee
until his passing in 1988. Flora was an avid gardener, quilter and
seamstress, and enjoyed dancing and cooking delicious meals for her family
and friends. Devout in her Catholic faith, Flora served as a lector and
Eucharistic minister at St. John Neumann Catholic Church of Waukesha until
2008.
Flora is survived by her younger brother, Louis S. (Amy) Crisostomo of
Pewaukee; her nephews and nieces, Louie V. (Joan) Crisostomo of Milwaukee,
Arthur C. (Hope) Crisostomo of Pewaukee, Christine (Thomas) Crisostomo Hey
of Waukesha, Edgar C. (Annabelle) Crisostomo of Waukesha, Bernard C. (Liz)
Crisostomo of Dallas, Grace (Robert) Crisostomo Olsen of Waukesha, Tony
(Cheryl) Crisostomo of Waukesha, Don Crisostomo of San Francisco, Greg
(Edie) Crisostomo of Egan, Minn., Joselito (the late Alma) Crisostomo of
the Philippines and Marlene Crisostomo of the Philippines; and her
numerous grand-nephews and nieces and great-grand-nephews and nieces in
the United States and the Philippines. Flora is also survived by her many
friends, including Judy Funk and Marijo Repath.
Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; several of
her brothers and sisters; and most recently, her beloved niece, Frances of
the Philippines.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. Mass of Christian
burial Friday, Feb. 4, at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland
Blvd., Waukesha. The Rev. Curt Frederick will be officiating. At Flora’s
request, her grand-nephew Michael Hey will be the pianist-organist for the
Mass, and nephew Arthur will sing "Ave Maria" in celebration of
the eternal presence of grace. Immediately following Mass, a light
luncheon in celebration of Flora’s long and wonderful life will be held
in the St. William parish hall.
Flora will be laid to rest beside her husband Jim in a private burial at
Wood National Cemetery in Milwaukee at a later time. Flora will be dearly
missed by her family and many friends.
