David L.‘Dave’ Kummrow

Nov. 23, 1935 – Feb. 3, 2011

David L. "Dave" Kummrow of Waukesha found eternal peace Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at the age of 75. David was born Nov. 23, 1935, the son of Arnold "Bud" and Irene (nee Hinz) Kummrow in Waukesha.

Dave was a lifelong resident of Waukesha and was a 1953 graduate of Waukesha High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He attended Carroll College and Waukesha County Technical College. He was employed at A.O. Smith, Genesis Behavioral Health at Milwaukee County Detox and Martin Security at Waukesha Engine.

On May 27, 1961, Dave married the former Shirley Mae Schnitzler in Waukesha. She preceded him in death in 1971. After retirement, Dave enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing and traveling to Arizona. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and spoke of having attended the 1967 NFL championship "Ice Bowl" game.

Dave is survived by his daughters, Rene (special friend Mike Gonzales) Krueger, Cassia (Mark Auchter) Kummrow and Denise Kummrow. He was the proud grandfather of Kurtis and Daniel Krueger. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Booth, Donna O’Neil, Judy (Roger) Gatzow, Edna (Dave) Hoffman, Sandra (Robert) Buchholz, Penny (Brent) Redford, Betty Lou (Dennis) Kramer, Linda (Jim) Sackett, Sherry (Robert) Beaver, Connie (Jim) Scheuren and Carol (the late Sonny) Schnitzler; and his brothers-in-law, Pat, Scott and Mark Schnitzler and Ron Hause. Dave is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Debra, and his sister, Karen Hause.

Dave was a friend of Bill W. for the past 26 years.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral service Monday, Feb. 7, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Prairie Home Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Dr. John Fish and the caregivers at the VA Medical Center, Waukesha Memorial Hospital, Avalon Square and LindenGrove-Waukesha for their excellent care over the past years.
