James H. Zachow

James H. Zachow died peacefully Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at the age of 81.

He was the beloved husband to Marilyn V.; cherished son of the late Minerva (nee Voelker); dear father of David (Kim), Dr. Rob (Sarah), and Cari (Christopher) John; stepfather of Steve, Phil (Angel) and Ron (Penny) Uphill; grandfather of Eric Effert and Alexai Zachow. He is further survived by other relatives, friends and his beloved cats, Thor and Tipper.

James was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For 34 years, he worked as a letter carrier in Milwaukee at the Hilltop office.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 15250 W. National Ave., New Berlin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Cat Network-West Allis or the American Stroke Association (www.strokeassociation.org) would be appreciated.
