Gertrude ‘Trudie’ Sloey
Gertrude
“Trudie” Sloey of Waukesha went home to her lord and savior Thursday,
Feb. 10, 2011, at the age of 88.
Trudie graduated from Garfield High School in Fond du Lac, St. Agnes
School of Nursing in Fond du Lac and St. Francis School of Anesthesia in
La Crosse. She was a loving and compassionate nurse anesthetist for 45
years, and proudly practiced at St. Joseph’s, St. Anthony’s and Elmbrook
Memorial hospitals. Trudie was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in
Waukesha for 47 years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Trudie was the loving mother of Kathleen (Robert) Townsend of Fort
Atkinson, Karen (Philip Lund) Sloey of Golden Valley, Minn., and Thomas
Sloey of Wales; loving and caring grandmother of Alison, Whitney and
Heather Townsend, Erik, Arianna and Cassandra Lund, and Andrew and Elise
Sloey; cherished sister of Donald (Patricia) of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.,
Helen Jean (Edward) LeRoy of Albany, Ore., and Lu (Donald) Miller of
Fond du Lac. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Trudie was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Ruth Wegener; and
brothers, Roland and Robert Wegener.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 5 p.m. funeral service
Sunday, Feb. 13, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St.,
Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Kathy Boadwine will be officiating.
Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
