Theresa I. Mahan, 95, of Genesee, passed away
peacefully Monday, Feb. 14, 2011.
She was born Dec. 29, 1915, in Cleveland, Ohio,
where she was an active member of the Hungarian community and enjoyed
entertaining with her lovely singing voice. She loved dancing and shared
many compelling stories of her life during the Prohibition years. On April
22, 1935, she married James G. Mahan, who preceded her in death. Theresa
was a fabulous cook and entertainer and was loved by all who had the
pleasure of sitting at her table.
She is survived by three children, James Mahan of
Milwaukee, Mark (Sandy) Mahan of Surprise, Ariz., and Karen Mahan of
Genesee; grandchildren, James (Nadine), Susan, Lisa, Thomas, Mark (Sara),
Michael and Rebecca; four great-grandchildren; niece, Carol (Dr. Joseph)
Martuch of Cleveland; beloved feline companion, King Tut; and other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
James; son, Gerald; sister, Rose; and daughterin-law, Dorothy.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11
a.m. funeral service today, Feb. 17, at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 7301
Nash St., Milwaukee.
In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the
family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 620 S. 76th
