Gene E. Nuetzel

Gene E. Nuetzel, a longtime resident of Mukwonago, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer at the age of 60.
Gene was born Sept. 29, 1950, in Milwaukee, the son of Earl and Rosemarie (nee Zaborowski) Nuetzel.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Debbie (nee Leistiko); his son, Jason; his daughter, Rebecca; grandson, Zach; and bonus granddaughters, Payton and Jorie. He is further survived by his sisters, Sharon (Ron) Rohrmayer, Lili (Mike) Jankowski and Christie (Randy) Symes; his brother, Brian (Toni) Nuetzel; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Ted) Krauss, Linda Salazar and Laurie (Lance) Brobst; brother-in-law, Richard Leistiko; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his Alaska family, Lorna, Dorothy, Leslie, Bill; and countless other friends who will miss his crazy sense of humor and his love of life.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Donna Nuetzel; his sister, Vikki Leistiko; and his Alaskan family members, Bob and Linda.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Pro-Health’s DN Greenwald Center: Dr. Hake, Debbie, Julie, Pam, Robin and hospice nurse Bonnie for your compassion and gentle care during his illness. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at the Schmidt & Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St. (Highway ES), Mukwonago. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home, with a service beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Caldwell Cemetery.
