Joyce
E. Brown, a lifelong Waukesha resident, passed on to eternal life
Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the age of 82.
Joyce was born in Waukesha on Sept. 9, 1928, the
daughter of Arnold and Sabina (nee Fuerstenberg) Nuss. Joyce graduated
from Waukesha High School in 1946 and was united in holy matrimony to her
sweetheart from her school days, Jack Brown, on June 17, 1950. Joyce was a
lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha. She
was a volunteer at church and a member of the Ladies Aid and belonged to
the Lutheran Senior’s exercise group. Joyce also helped to start the
Lutheran Girl Pioneers and was a volunteer at the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod
in Milwaukee. She also was an active member of the Waukesha County
Historical Society & Museum and was a poll worker for many years.
Joyce was an employee with the Waukesha School District, where she worked
as a cook manager at the Central campus, retiring in 1993. Joyce was an
avid Brewers, Badgers and Packers fan.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, John
E. "Jack" Brown of Waukesha; a son, Jim (Marge) Brown; and a
daughter, Jerie (Tom) Roder. She is also survived by her grandchildren,
Adam (Carol) Roder, Tracie (Shannon) Midthun, Heidi Roder, Patricia
(Craig) Schmidt and Pamela (Jason) Jacques; great-grandchildren, Alyssa
Schmidt, Austin Thomas Roder, Ashlyn Schmidt, Austin Jacques, Bryce Roder,
Aiden Jacques and by the expected Midthun baby; sisters, Delores (Edward)
Scherf and Corinne Putz; and by other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Joyce will be held from 4 p.m.
until the 6 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Feb. 24, at Trinity Evangelical
Lutheran Church, 1060 Whiterock Ave., Waukesha. Entombment at Prairie Home
Cemetery on Friday will be private.
The family extends thanks to Joyce’s cousin,
Alice Staab, and to the staffs at LindenGrove-Waukesha and Seasons Hospice
for the wonderful care given to Joyce.
