Douglas ‘Obie’ F. Oberholtzer

Douglas "Obie" F. Oberholtzer, 74, of Prairie Du Chien, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Madison.

Obie was born on Aug. 16, 1936, the son of the late Frank and Evelyn (nee McKenzie) Oberholtzer. He was a truck driver for many years and enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Crusan) Oberholtzer. He was the cherished father of Cathy (Larry) Fox, Robin McClain, Mark (Janice) Oberholtzer, Sean (Suzanna) Oberholtzer, Shannon (Marelly) Oberholtzer, Sherri (Erik) Winterfeldt, Mike (Dawn) Sowlles, Richard (Ann) Sowlles, Patricia (David) Zirpoli and Kathy Wall and the beloved grandfather to 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Obie was loved and will be remembered by many other relatives and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Bret; brothers, Robert and Donald; daughter-in-law, Amy Sowlles; and son-in-law, Chris Wall.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until the 6:30 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Mealy’s Funeral Home, 103 W. Eagle St., Eagle, with the Rev. Lawrence Turner officiating.
