JANESVILLE

Dorothy M. Bemelburg, 80, of Janesville, formerly of Pewaukee Lake, passed away early Monday morning, Feb. 21, 2011, at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center in Janesville, with her family at her side. She was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 1, 1930, the only child of Joseph Urban and Emily Pietruszynski.

Dorothy worked as a CNA for Waukesha County for 25 years and also as a typist for Bruce Publishing Co. in Milwaukee. In 1954, Dorothy married Casey Bemelburg, who she met in Heidelberg, Germany, while stationed in the U.S. Army after World War II. Dorothy moved to Janesville to live with her daughter, Dee Lancour, in 1998. She enjoyed praying the Rosary, gardening, caring for her beloved dog, Charlie, traveling, reading, listening to Brewers games and watching Lawrence Welk. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Janesville.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Casey; her children, Dee (David) Lancour and Marie Davis; her seven grandchildren, David Lancour, Sarah Lancour, Rachel Lancour and Daniel Lancour and Michelle (Kevin) Weber, Casey (Ashley) Davis and Corey Davis; and one great-grandchild, Austin Weber.

Private family services will be held at St. William Catholic Church, Janesville, and burial with full military honors will be in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove.
