Gary
Dean Hinn passed peacefully at Waukesha Memorial Hospital on Monday, Feb.
21, 2011, surrounded by family. Born May 22, 1954, in Oshkosh, he
graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1972. On May 7, 1977, he
married Jane Strong of Oshkosh.
Gary started his career with the phone company as the
first male telephone operator in Oshkosh. He moved up quickly through the
ranks to become an engineer specialist in Appleton. In 1992, Ameritech
transferred him to Waukesha, where he completed 26 years of dedicated
service. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha,
where he served as a church elder for several years. He found joy in
volunteering many years for the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee. In his
free time, Gary enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, fishing and rooting
for his team, the Packers.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jane (nee Strong);
three loving daughters, Kathryn (Jon) Cavett, Kimberly (Colin) White and
Erin Hinn; grandson, Avery Cavett; sister, Nancy (Steven) Berger;
brothers, Roy (Karen) Hinn and Richard (Robin) Hinn; and sister-in-law, Ann
(Randy) Krug. Gary is further survived by many nieces, nephews and beloved
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Letha and Roy Hinn; his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Roger LaMore; and niece,
Shelly Grunske.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday,
Feb. 27, at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside (corner of Witzel
Avenue and Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh). Visitation continues from noon
until the 1 p.m. service Monday, Feb. 28, at the funeral home. Burial will
follow at Lake View Memorial Park.
