Schreiner of Gainesville, Fla., passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at
the age of 91 after a short battle with cancer. She was a longtime
Waukesha educator, who retired from her first grade position at Whittier
Elementary. She loved teaching her students and was devoted to helping
each one succeed.
A longtime member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, she was involved
in the elderly fellowship and friendship group, Older and Wiser, for
several years. She and Martha Adams led the group for luncheons,
speakers and good times.
Alda is survived by August, her husband of 70 years, who was also an
educator and retired from Menomonee Falls School District. Alda was a
devoted and caring mother of four children. She is survived by her three
daughters, Kathleen Morris (Bernard Reller), Colleen Campbell (Keith)
and Carmen Benedict (Gary), and daughter in-law, Claudia Schreiner. Her
son, Dennis, preceded her in death. Her grandchildren, Jim Schreiner
(College Station, Texas), John Schreiner (Salt Lake City, Utah),
Jennifer Schreiner (Charleston, S.C.), Benjamin Reller, Heather Morris,
Andrew Benedict, Anne Benedict and great-grandsons, Cayden and Kolten
(all of Gainesville, Fla.), will miss her ever cheerful presence and
interest in their smallest and greatest accomplishments in their lives.
Alda’s earthly resting place will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Mondovi. A
celebration of her life will be held in the future in Mondovi at a date
yet to be determined.
