George K. Pantelis

George
K. Pantelis of Waukesha died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at the age of 82. He
was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Cicero, Ill., the son of Konstantine and Bessie
(nee Pappas) Pantelis.
He was united in marriage to Helen Ann Rouman; she preceded him in death
in 1995. George attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, earning a
degree in education. He worked for Channel 12 for almost 40 years until
his retirement. Very active in the community, George served on the
Waukesha Common Council, holding the position of alderman for 10 years,
and was a longtime member and past vice chairman of the Democratic Party
for Waukesha County. George was also very involved with the Shriners for
more than 40 years, including the Masonic Order, Scottish Rite, Triple I
Temple, Motor Corp. and the James Hayes Lodge. He served as president of
the Waukesha County Shrine Club, Ambassador General and Arab Patrol. He
also was a member of AHEPEA, a Greek organization for men. He had a great
love of jazz music.
George will be deeply missed by his children, Elizabeth Pantelis of
Waukesha, Gus (Sue) Pantelis of Roseville, Minn., and Dina (George) Smith
of Georgia; and grandchildren, Terran, Victoria, Steven and Roman Pantelis,
and Devon, Ashley and Andrew Smith.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home,
1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a Trisagion
at 6 p.m., followed by a Masonic service. Funeral services will be held at
11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox
Church, 2160 N. Wauwatosa Ave., Milwaukee, with visitation from 10:30 a.m.
until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow at Prairie
Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
