Jerome ‘Sam’ A. Knurr

Jerome "Sam" A. Knurr, 77, of Longmont, Colo., passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, in Longmont. He was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Milwaukee, to Alvin and Esther (Turkoski) Knurr. He graduated from high school in Mukwonago.

Sam worked the family farm in Wisconsin until he moved to the Brighton-Fort Lupton, Colo., area in 1977. He then worked for Farmers Irrigation and the Kirkmeyer’s farm driving tractors.

He enjoyed raising horses and competing and judging for Western Pleasure Horse Competitions in Wisconsin. Sam also loved to play Santa Claus at the local mall and his church.

Sam is survived by his sons, Todd (Emily) Knurr of Aurora, Colo., and Brad (Laurie) Knurr of Hernando, Miss.; and siblings, Allen (Judith) Knurr of Omro and Judith (Vern) Aune of Waukesha.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Fort Lupton. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.
