Howard C. Brand

Howard C. Brand passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Indian River Medical
Center.
Howard was born in Winona Minn. Jan. 15,1924. He
was an Army veteran of World War II and served his country in five
battles, including Normandy.
After returning from the war, Howard married Joyce
L. Nutter, who survives him; along with two sons, Michael Brand (Susan) of
Waukesha and Dennis Brand (Tina) of Appleton; and five grandchildren and
15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Avis Hoeft of
Waukesha.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Everett
Brand.
Howard worked as a supervisor at Wisconsin
Centrifugal foundries for 34 years. Howard and Joyce retired in Vero
Beach, Fla., in 1983. There they enjoyed their retirement years golfing
and boating. Howard was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Vero
Beach. He was very active in the Vero Beach Yacht Club, Veterans Club and
Moose Lodge 1822. Howard, along with some friends, formed the Grady Bunch,
a boating group, and made many trips to the Bahama Islands.
A private service was held in Vero Beach.
