Robert "Bob" Braun, 66, of Appleton, passed to K9OSH silent key status Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at home with his family at his side. He was born July 21, 1944, in Baraboo, the son of the late Robert and Wilma (Rusch) Braun.

Bob married Marilyn Mills on June 18, 1966, in West Milwaukee. After 34 years in the telecommunications industry, Bob retired from SBC. He was a ham radio operator for more than 50 years.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn Braun; two daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Brielmaier and Katherine (Lloyd) Phelps; five grandchildren, Ellie, Eli and Joey Brielmaier and Owen and Grant Phelps; brother, Richard (Patricia) Braun; sister, Sandra Braun; brothers-in-law, James (Joan) Mills and Richard (Louise) Mills; and special friend, Tim Thurner. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Braun.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1:11 p.m. funeral service Friday, Jan. 14, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. The Rev. Kurt Kovanen will be officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
