George C. Widule

George Criston Widule of Elm Grove died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at
Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 88. He was born Feb. 24, 1922, in
Milwaukee, the son of George and Elsa (nee Schubert) Widule.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine
Corps in Guam, Guadalcanal and Bougainville during World War II. George
had a lifetime association with the Boy Scouts and Troop 76. The members
and their spouses continue to gather socially to the present day. Much of
his Boy Scout training aided him in battle situations during WWII. He was
an accomplished musician and was a member of the Musicians Union Local No.
8 since the 1930s and was the leader of The George Criston Orchestra
aboard the Milwaukee Clipper cruise ship for 15 years. He was also
involved in real estate for more than 50 years.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Marianne of
Elm Grove; daughter, Mary (Leslie) Morris of Waukesha; sons, John Criston
(Sharon) Widule of Brookfield and George Criston Widule Jr. of Vancouver,
B.C.; beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Louis.
Private burial with full military honors will take
place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
