Marion D. Rice

Marion D. Rice of Waukesha died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Waukesha Springs at the age of 91. She was born in Milwaukee on Jan. 26, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Cecelia (nee Blecha) Smitka.

On June 28, 1947, she married Daniel Rice in Bayview; he preceded her in death Oct. 2, 2000. Marion worked as a teacherís aide for Greendale High School for many years until her retirement in 1972.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Colleen (William) Mueller, Jennifer (David) Powers and Katherine (Daniel) Beaudry; son-in-law, Bruce Arendt; and six grandchildren, Nicole Arendt, Heidi and Linda Mueller, Michael Powers, and Renee and Daniel Beaudry. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband Daniel and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Priscilla Arendt, on July 30, 1998, and by her brother.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Waukesha Springs for the exceptional long-term care Marion received.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, July 13, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.
