The Rev. Peter Arvedson of Elm Grove died July 14, 2011, at the age of 74.
He was the beloved husband of Joan, loving father of Stephen (Tara) and Mark, and the cherished grandfather of Matthew, Jonathan and Jason. He was the dear brother of Jane (James) Hood. He is survived by other relatives, friends and colleagues.
Peter was born in Peoria, Ill. He received a bachelorís degree in chemistry at the University of Illinois and Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison he earned a Master of Divinity degree from General Theological Seminary, New York City. He served as an Episcopal priest in parishes in Effingham, Ill., Okinawa, Japan; Madison and Buffalo, N.Y., where he retired from St. Andrewís Church in 2002. He was active in the Society for Ordained Scientists.
Since he and Joan moved to Elm Grove, he continued teaching and ministering in many ways at Trinity Church in Wauwatosa. He was a docent, researcher, and active supporter of restoration projects at the Pabst Mansion.
A celebration of Peterís life will be held July 22 at Trinity Church in Wauwatosa, with visitation from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., a service at 6 p.m. and a reception to follow at 7 p.m. Interment of ashes will be in the columbarium at Trinity Church.
