Patricia
"Patsy" Bishop Gutting of Waukesha said good bye to her family
and transitioned to her eternal life in Heaven on Friday, June 3, 2011, at
the age of 86.
Patsy was born on Sept. 11, 1924, to Stuart and Dorothy
Bishop in Indianapolis. She graduated from Shortridge High School in 1942
and then from Purdue University in 1946. After graduation, Patsy went to
teach at the Methodist Mission School in Panama City, Panama. She returned
to marry Paul A. Gutting on Dec. 4, 1948, with whom she enjoyed 62 years
of life and marriage. She loved to travel and was able to visit all the
countries of Europe. She traveled to four continents and enjoyed 16
different international adventures. Patsy lived for 45 years in Elm Grove,
where she raised her children and cared for her garden, saving and
preserving many wildflowers. She enjoyed the friends and fellowship of the
Women of Elm Grove Women’s Club and Women’s Club Chorus. She made
lifelong friendships through participation in her investment club, bridge
club and dance club. She loved the arts and maintained season tickets to
the Milwaukee Florentine Opera and the Skylight Opera Theatre. She was a
longtime volunteer for VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program
and did taxes for the elderly in Waukesha.
Patsy will be missed by her friends and family. She
leaves her husband, Paul Gutting of Waukesha; her children, Jeff Gutting
of West Allis, Jean (Randy) Lohoff of Panama City, Fla., and Barbara
(Tracy) Cleveland of Waukesha; her brother, Charles Bishop of
Indianapolis; grandchildren, Bryan (Joan) Lohoff, Drew Lohoff, Amelia
Cleveland, Eleanor Cleveland and Abigail Cleveland; and
great-granddaughter, Veda Lohoff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister,
Anne Bishop Masters; and her son, Bruce Hill Gutting.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the
staff of the Avalon Square and Home & Hospice Advantage who were so
kind, caring and generous with their love and care for Patsy.
Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in
Shelbyville, Ind. A memorial service will be held at a later date at
Avalon Square in Waukesha. Memorial service information will be posted at www.waukeshafunerals.com
