Eloise Clayton Jeffery (nee Parr)

Eloise Clayton Jeffery (nee Parr) died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the age of 86. Eloise was born in Atlanta, Ga., on July 13, 1924, and moved to Tampa, Fla., where she attended grammar school, high school and one year at the University of Tampa. Eloise worked as a legal secretary at Drew Airfield and McDill Airfield in Tampa from 1943 to 1945. She married Robert Jeffery on October 26, 1945, and worked as a legal secretary for the city of Tampa until moving to Dousman in 1947.
Eloise was active in the American Legion auxiliary, the Womenís Club and was a village of Dousman poll worker for over 30 years. Her employment also included Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital as an office worker, secretary at a physicianís office in Dousman and an in-store product demonstrator. Eloise also owned and operated Luluís Variety store in Dousman for several years. She was an active member of the Oconomowoc YMCA and enjoyed her many friends, bowling, golf, dart ball, playing poker and volunteering. Eloise never passed a rummage sale without stopping and loved attending auctions.
She is survived by her children: Brian H. (Danese) of Las Cruces, NM and Debra S. (Kenneth) of Waukesha, her sister Corrine Swain of GA, her 3 grandchildren: Alisa (Gareth) Dargeiwicz of Waukesha, Amber (Neil) Knutson of Waukesha and Logan Jeffery of Milwaukee, great grandchildren: Nolan, Sawyer and Grace Dargeiwicz and Sadie, Nora and Asa Knutson. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends. Eloise was preceded in death by her husband: Robert C. Jeffery, her parents: W.D. and Corrine H. Parr of Decatur, Ga., her brother: W.D. Parr, Jr. of Tampa, Fla., her sister: Charlotte Tompkins of Ind., and her grandparents: William Barnard and Eloise Clayton Hunt and W.D. and Minnie Pearl Parr all of Decatur, GA.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 1, 2011, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ 36821 Sunset Drive Hwy. 18, Dousman, with Rev. Nansi Hawkins officiating. Visitation for Eloise will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m., at the church. A private burial will be held at the Town of Ottawa Cemetery.
