Evelyn Martin

July 10, 1913 - April 29, 2011

Evelyn Martin of Waukesha died Friday, April 29, 2011, at the age of 97. She was born in Baraboo on July 10, 1913, the daughter of Charles J. and Sadie Page Sanders.

With her parents and siblings, she moved to Waukesha as a child and lived there for her lifetime, and graduated from Waukesha High School. On June 29, 1935, Evelyn married Daniel John Martin, also of Waukesha. She was a beloved member of her community and First Presbyterian Church in Waukesha for many years. Evelyn welcomed to her home a constant stream of family, friends and neighbors who were always met with her radiant smile, her marvelous baking and her beautiful gardens. Little ones were dazzled with cookies and spinning tops. As the children grew, they had fun swinging in her hammock and exploring the corners of her attic. Older ones knew they could count on her approval, encouragement and her listening. All delighted in climbing the magnolia tree in front of her house. In her later years she moved from her longtime home on Barstow Street to her home at LindenHeights, Waukesha, where she was an enthusiastic resident for the last nine years of her life.
