Dr. Joseph V. Pucci

Oct. 23, 1933 - May 4, 2011

Dr. Joseph V. Pucci, a longtime Waukesha optometrist, died peacefully at AngelsGrace Hospice on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the age of 77.

Joseph was born Oct. 23, 1933, the son of Gaetano V. and Emily G. (Phillips) Pucci in Waukesha. He married Dorothy (Stevens) on Jan. 15, 2002. Joseph received his doctor of optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago. He attended Waukesha High School and Marquette University, Milwaukee, before beginning his professional studies. At the Illinois College of Optometry, he was a member of the Council on Ethics, vice president of the Wisconsin Club, a member of Omega Epsilon Phi fraternity and served as a representative on the student council. Since 1957, Dr. Pucci practiced in Waukesha, where he has treated thousands of area residents, eventually serving three generations of many families. During his nearly 50 years of practice, the advances in optometry were many. A lifetime of serving patients has left him with no regrets. Joseph enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing black jack. He was a history buff and a horse lover, most of all he loved spending time with family, especially his grandkids.

Joseph will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Dorothy; his children, Anthony Tony (Nina) Pucci, Lisa (Andrew Dillon) Pucci, Brant (Nicole) Allen, June (Frank) Rogers and Sha-lee (Greg) Medd; grandchildren, Isabella, Dominic, Marisa, Jacob, Tyler and Ethan; brothers, David (Sue) Pucci, Michael Pucci, Tom Pucci and Bob Pucci; and sister, Patricia (Don) Bethke. Joseph is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Hasselkus; parents; sister, Marietta; and sister-in-laws, Sue and Loralei.
