Harry Berger

March 5, 1935 – May 18, 2011

Harry Berger, 76, passed away at his home in Fremont on May 18, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born March 5, 1935, in Milwaukee, the son of the late Joseph and Emilie (Weigelt) Berger.

On Sept. 15, 1956, Harry married Patricia Arlene Eder in Milwaukee. Together they raised their children, Cindy, Jane, Kathy and Sandra.

Harry worked as an electrician, retiring after 50 years. First and foremost, he was dedicated to serving his family. He lived to experience our Lord’s creation through countless hours of hunting and fishing. When he wasn’t in a tree stand or casting a line in the water, he was planning his next sportsman adventure or new project.

Harry was a member of Hope United Church of Christ in Fremont, where he served as a deacon and found great peace and comfort in his faith and church family. He always welcomed friends and family to his table.

Harry is survived by his wife, Patricia; four daughters, Cindy (Mike) Schultz of Winneconne, Jane (Scott) Laue of Fremont, Kathy (Dave) Stephens, Southlake, Texas, and Sandra Berger of Viroqua; seven grandchildren, Grant, Jered, Jamie, Dana, Emily, Michael and Kayla; a brother, Werner “Mike” (Dory) Berger of West Bend; four brothers-inlaw, August Fischer of Kenosha, Bill (Mary Ann) Eder of Sussex, Jim Eder of Chicago and Mike (Patti) Eder of Wauwatosa; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harry was preceded in death by a sister, Hildegard, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jack and Marie Eder.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Lewin Funeral Home, 210 Main St., Fremont. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, May 23, at Hope United Church of Christ. The Rev. Alex Tychkin will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
