Ysidra
S. Garcia of Waukesha died Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at the Virginia Health
and Rehab Center at the age of 79. She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in
Waukesha, the daughter of Anthony and Rafaela (nee Hernandez) Mindiola.
On Sept. 17, 1949, she married Armando Garcia at St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Waukesha, where she was a lifetime member and was active with
the Guadalupana’s Society. For many years, she was the head chef at
Aliota’s Restaurant. She then worked as a case aide at Catholic Social
Services, retiring in 1999.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Mona Garcia, John (Lynn)
Garcia, Amanda (John) Couden and Amelie (Mark) Hillmer, all of Waukesha,
and Vivian (Ken) Lapp of Mukwonago. She was the dear grandmother of
Christopher (Michelle) Garcia of Sussex, Shelby (Rick) Romero of
Waukesha, Ryan (Shauna) Heflin of New Jersey, Joshua (Carmen) Couden,
Edward Heflin, Elizabeth Couden, Justin Garcia, Jeremy Garcia and Holley
(Lupe) Godina, all of Waukesha, and proud great-grandmother of Logan,
Karley, Madeline, Ashley, Nicholas, Emily, Michael, Alexis, Kylie,
Hunter, Mariah and Arianna. She is further survived by her brothers and
sisters, Lupe (Yacinto) Baretto of Waukesha, Stanley (Ophelia) Mindiola
of Waukesha, the late Anthony (Sandy) Mindiola of Florida, John (Bonnie)
Mindiola of Waukesha, Julia (James) Cervantes of Waukesha, Anthony Lopez
of Waukesha, Mattias (Mary) Lopez of Waukesha and John (Unmi) Lopez of
Atlanta, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armando, on July 5, 2009.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Home & Hospice
Advantage for the compassionate care given to Ysidra in her final days.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. rosary service
Monday, Nov. 7, at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave.,
Waukesha. Services continue at the funeral home Tuesday, Nov. 8, with
prayers beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by the procession to St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha, for the 10:30 a.m.
funeral Mass. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
