Leroy Otto Gessner, 90, of Oxford, Fla., passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, in Leesburg, Fla. He was born in Boltonville on Nov. 28, 1920, to the late Dean and Norma Gessner.

Mr. Gessner moved to Oxford in 1977 from Westfield. He retired as an associate warden for Wisconsin state prisons. Leroy served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Leesburg Chapter 84 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4337 in Inverness, Fla.

Mr. Gessner is survived by his wife, Helen; his sons, Dean Gessner of Yalaha, Fla., and Wayne Gessner of Lady Lake, Fla.; his brother, Wyman Gessner of West Bend; four grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Nov. 25, at the Banks/Page-Theus Chapel, 410 N. Webster St., Wildwood, Fla. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg.
