Elizabeth ‘Betty’ McMillan
May 29, 1913 – April 3, 2012
Elizabeth “Betty” McMillan, a lifelong resident of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at Waukesha Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, just before her 99th birthday. Betty was born in Waukesha to John and Mary (Weber) Gebhardt.
Betty had a passion for living. She loved to travel and spend time with her daughters and grandchildren. Betty was an avid shopper and endlessly enjoyed crocheting lap blankets for local nursing home residents. Betty had a “green thumb” and filled her home with plants and flowers. She always looked forward to Saturday mornings at the hairdresser with Joan. Betty worked until her retirement for Waukesha County Park System and often reminisced about her friends from work. She was a charter member of St. Williams Church in Waukesha.
Betty is survived by her children, Mary (Larry) Drexler of Shreveport, La., Margaret (Paul) Parris of Oshkosh and Donna (Peter) Llanas of Waukesha; 10 grandchildren, Mauricea (Joe) Ziehr, Maggie (Chris) Tuchalski, Mathew (Carrie) Parris, Corrina (Chad) Heilert, Jocelyn Parris, Peter (Jessica) Llanas, Etta Llanas, Lizzie Drexler, Sam Drexler and Ian Llanas; her great-grandchildren, Emerson, Gabby, Esme, Delilah, Simon, MacAlytsa, Lola, Grey, Colin, Luna, Olivia and Andre; her sister, Donna Gebhardt; and sisterin-law, Bets Gebhardt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice McMillan; her sisters, Dorothy Reiber and Helen Morkin; and her brother, Jack Gebhardt.
The family would like to thank Lea, Jonelle and Kathy, the nurses at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, for their kind care.
Her goal in life was to live to be 100 years old. Please join her family for a celebration of her life from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha.
