Gerard Pierre Albert Rateau

Gerard Pierre Albert Rateau died Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at his home in Houston, Texas, at the age of 59.
Born in France in 1953, Gerardís family emigrated to Waukesha, and he became a U.S. citizen in 1965.
Gerard graduated from Waukesha High School in 1971, and in 1975 earned an Associate Degree in applied science for mechanical design from the Waukesha County Technical Institute.
His work in the metal buildings industry, a career that spanned more than 30 years, took him to Norman, Okla.; Hong Kong; China; Eufala, Ala.; and Houston. He and his children enjoyed many worldwide trips, including China, Australia, Nepal, Thailand, the Philippines and France. Gerard will be remembered for his love of books, plants, cars and fireworks, as well as his willingness to offer help to loved ones. He was a leader in his work environment. Gerard will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Rateau.
He is survived by his mother, Jeannine Rateau of Waukesha; his brother, Dominic Rateau (and family) of New London; his sister, Ghislaine Thomas (and family) of Norman, Okla.; and his children, Dylan Rateau of Norman and Amber RateauStakes (and family) of Red River, N.M. His grandsons, Aidan and Ryder, will miss their Grandpa G.
Private services were held March 24 in Houston.
