David C. Martin
Sept. 24, 1930 – April 10, 2012
David C. Martin was born to Sanford and Mildred (nee Boldt) Martin in Big Bend under the watchful eye and caring hands of his Great-Uncle (Doc) Boldt on Sept. 24, 1930.
David will be sadly missed by his wife, LaVerne; his children, Dale (Maureen) Martin and Dawn (Jim) Arquette; daughter-in-law, Loraine Martin; grandchildren, Ricky (Theresa) Martin, Jack Martin, Dawn (Rob) Hayden, Anthony Arquette, Jayme Martin, Alden (Nikki) Arquette, Adam Arquette (Wendy), Kyle Martin and Alyssa (Dan) Carillon; and very special great-grandchildren. David is further survived by his siblings, Jean (Dick) Rozek and Paul (Kathy) Martin; a sister-inlaw, Cleo Martin; as well as other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Donald; his oldest son, Daniel; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
David’s wish was fulfilled and he was able to spend his last days at home surrounded and visited by many special friends and relatives. He passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
Growing up in New Berlin, he eventually settled next door to his parents home in the house that was built from the fieldstones gathered on the land and from the homestead of his forefathers. It was crafted from years of experience under the direction of his father and uncles alongside his loving wife LaVerne and young sons – a labor of love and a lasting legacy on Martin Road in New Berlin.
David served our country in both the Army and the Navy. He held many different jobs and worked for several different trucking companies hauling a myriad of commodities.
He was a great teacher and instilled solid work ethics on his family. He always had a job on the side to earn extra money, having worked in auction barns, salvage operations or “aquiring” treasures to share with others in need.
